Z-Quartett

The ‘Z-Quartett’ were formed in September 2020 in Zürich. With four members of different backgrounds, Z found an exciting combination and began intensively working together immediately. They received weekly chamber lessons and performed their debut concert a little over a month later in Johanneskirche, Zürich as part of their ‘Neue Töne’ series. After their early success, Z began performing frequently in Zürich and abroad. In 2022 the group expanded into a saxophone and electronics ensemble, joining forces with composer and saxophonist Joan Jordi Oliver to premiere his work ‘Readings on Des Prés’.  This project brought the group to various venues and festivals in Switzerland, Spain, and Hungary. Other projects like Glockenbuch or Sync brought its members to festivals like the Ambientfestival in Köln and to venues like Kunstraum Walcheturm. The Quartet also toured the production Amao Omi together with the ZHdK chamber choir, and performed in Zürich and Regensburg in Germany in the context of different festivals. In September 2024 the group will perform both ‘Glockenbuch’ and ‘Readings on Des Prés’ at the Meakusma Festival in Belgium.
